Since 1820

Two centuries of Local butchery

Abbey Meats didn’t start with us. There’s been a proper butcher in Leighton Buzzard since 1820 – for much of that time known as Wm. Yirrell – and for generations, if you wanted a good joint, you went to Yirrell’s.

We carry that on – the same standards, now in a purpose-built butchery and delivered to your door by our own refrigerated vans. Same town, same craft, same commitment to getting it right. Cut fresh this morning, on your table tomorrow

Ordered the £30 meat pack on a Tuesday, arrived Wednesday morning, all properly chilled. Steak was excellent. Will be ordering again

Been meaning to leave a review for ages. We switched from the supermarket after a friend recommended these and honestly there's no comparison - the pork especially. Delivery driver even carried it in for me as was a heavy box. Little things.

I'll be honest, I wasn't sure about ordering meat online. Turns out it's better than what I was getting at the supermarket "fresh" meat counter. The bacon is the real winner, was proper thick cut, and doesn't shrink to nothing in the pan.

Absolutely brilliant. The burgers went down a storm at our BBQ and a certain guest (you know who you are) wanted to know where I'd got them... High praise!

We used to go to Yirrells years ago so it's lovely to see the same quality still going. Ordered lamb for Sunday and it was every bit as good as I remember - thanks for your advice Mark.

Meat quality is genuinely excellent - the beef joint was superb. Only thing I'd say is I'd like a few more options in the smaller packs. Otherwise no complaints at all.
