PROPER BUTCHERS SINCE 1820

Bacon & Gamon

Proper dry-cured bacon and gammon, cut and prepared the way a butcher has done it in Leighton Buzzard since 1820. No added water, no shortcuts – just honest, flavour-packed rashers and joints, delivered chilled to your door the very next day.

The difference is in the cure

Supermarket bacon is pumped with water and brine, which is why it shrinks and weeps white liquid in the pan. Ours is traditionally cured, so it fries golden and crisp, and every gammon joint carves into tender, properly seasoned slices.

Our Bacon & Gammon

made the proper way

Bacon worth coming back for

Every rasher and every joint is prepared by our own butchers, to the same exacting standards this town’s butchery has long been known for. There’s been bacon and gammon cured in Leighton Buzzard since 1820, and two centuries on, we still do it the slow, traditional way – because it’s the only way that delivers the flavour and texture our customers come back for.

Your order is cut fresh, packed chilled, and delivered the very next morning in our own refrigerated vans across the LU, MK and HP postcodes. Place your order before 3pm and it’ll be with you tomorrow – properly butchered, properly kept, properly delivered.

Ordered the £30 meat pack on a Tuesday, arrived Wednesday morning, all properly chilled. Steak was excellent. Will be ordering again

Been meaning to leave a review for ages. We switched from the supermarket after a friend recommended these and honestly there's no comparison - the pork especially. Delivery driver even carried it in for me as was a heavy box. Little things.

I'll be honest, I wasn't sure about ordering meat online. Turns out it's better than what I was getting at the supermarket "fresh" meat counter. The bacon is the real winner, was proper thick cut, and doesn't shrink to nothing in the pan.

Absolutely brilliant. The burgers went down a storm at our BBQ and a certain guest (you know who you are) wanted to know where I'd got them... High praise!

We used to go to Yirrells years ago so it's lovely to see the same quality still going. Ordered lamb for Sunday and it was every bit as good as I remember - thanks for your advice Mark.

Meat quality is genuinely excellent - the beef joint was superb. Only thing I'd say is I'd like a few more options in the smaller packs. Otherwise no complaints at all.
